Adventures in the Philippine Islands
English translation of "Aventures d'un Gentilhomme Breton aux îles Philippines." It is an account of the observations and adventures of Paul Proust de La Gironiere, a Frenchman from Nantes who founded and organized the city of Jalajala. The book contains the first written mention of Nakpil, Laguna's Turumba Festival, and the only eyewitness account of the revolt led by Andres Novales, the self-proclaimed Emperor of the Philippines.
